Cultural activities
The Argolida region, whose capital is the distinguished town of Nafplio, impresses the visitor with its beauty and many historical monuments. The cultural legacy of this region is perhaps more important than any other factor in its renowned identity. The selection of cultural sites is astounding and 110 archaeological sites and monuments of interest can be visited.

You can visit the splendours of this region that will make every daytrip an unforgettable experience, for example: Bourtzi, Palamidi, Asklipeio, the ancient amphitheatre of Epidavros, Mycaene and Tirintha, monasteries and churches (Ayia Triada, Neo Iraio, Anifi, Ayia Moni, Ligurio, Adami, Avyou monastery etc.), museums, archaeological sites, ancient Mycenaean bridge in the Arcadiko village, Prosimini etc.

There are many events organised in Nafplio throughout the year. Nafplio is a town for artists, sculptors and poets, for example Fotis Kontoglou, Angelos Terzakis, Nikos Karouzos etc.  The most important events are the Music Festival for classical music lovers that is organised in the first week in June every year, the Regatta Carnival and the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Without a doubt, one of the most important cultural events of the summer is the Theatre Festival of Epidavros which is organised under the auspices of the Festival of Athens and in fact tends to be the primary interest of many visitors. Similarly, there is the Festival known as ‘Musical July’ which is organised by the National Concert Hall of Athens and is held in the Small Theatre of Ancient Epidavros.

The Agrotouristic Festival which takes place near the harbour of Ancient Epidauros and is directed at those who want to learn about the traditional food products of Argolida and also selected produce from all over Greece is well worth a visit.

You can also go to some less known but nonetheless interesting events like KIANA in Nea Kio, the ‘Festival of the Artichoke’ in Iria, the ‘Fisherman’s Festival’ in Tolo, the ‘Olive Oil Festival’ in Ligurio and many other similar events.
