The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus was built in the 4th century BC and has kept its excellent acoustics through the ages. Initially it could fit 8,000 spectators and after expanding its capacity increased to 14,000 spectators. In the same pine-forested valley above the ancient harbour of Epidaurus you can visit the ruins of the most important sanctuary of Asclepius, as well as many other monuments of archaeological interest.
